An Elegy of a Dying Poet

a poem by Michael Flores Caasi, Philippines - poetry writer, author, poet

My brightest sun is about to set
to heaven where I am prepared to rest
In serenity of an endless poetry
I'll weave another rhymes of ingenuity.

Yes I am old and over gray
and my pen is running out of ink
I will ever miss the words I played
and leave the rest of my pretty wink.

My world was fruitful, so imaginative
I journeyed far and far away
Where all my verses, silently lived
Sorry my world, no more I could stay.

One more day and another night
I pray to Master of love and light
Spare me another moment to write
the final poem of pure delight.

This poem where life shall never rest
I leave the world my last embrace
To art of expressions and humanity
My last breath of joy - my poetry.
