Grandma's Boy

a poem by Linda Bates Terrell, USA

Night approaches
as dusk begins,
Visiting at night
with his old friends,

He reaches out
with simple love,
He captures life
from God above,

He grabs my heart
with a gentle tug,
I give him again
one great big hug,

He works all day
For a good pay
His time he spends
his future wisely building

He grows up tall
then as I reach his face,
I feel so small
But in my heart is his place.
