MUSCLES RELAX

a poem by Lee Emmett, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

muscles relax
loose as jelly
slouching
feet up, head resting
on leather couch
talking to friend
on the phone

watch tree branches
dancing in wind
mist lies on city
shrouding Port Phillip Bay

after morning rain
sky is steel-grey
spring flowers erupt
red camellia, pink daisy
golden broom, forget-me-nots
feel drowsy and lazy

unexpectedly
sun breaks through clouds
outside, colours intensify
inside living-room
heart warms
in happiness
