JOANNE

a poem by Michael Flores Caasi, Philippines - poetry writer, author, poet

Just an imaginary angel you are
Whose wings are strong and warm
That when invisibly embraces me
I feel the pleasures of heavens
Showering down on me.

Over seas and hills apart,
I can still hear your heartbeats,
As clear as dew drops on roses’ leaves
I can even feel the warmth of your hallowed breath
As you whisper miles away,
your prayers of excellent health.

And in each sleepless hours of darkness as I make a sigh
You’ll sing a very magical sweet lullaby
Then I will seal my forlorn eyes
Now filled with ever graceful smiles
You’ll blow away my worries, fears
Wipe and kiss my face with tears.

Never get weary O my darling angel
In granting all my childish desires
For being my shoulders when I need to cry
If I’m about to quit and so afraid to try
You encourage me to have power
and go on with the fight.

No, I will never let you go
Even if the sun doesn't shine on me
Or if the raindrops fall I may no longer see
All I know my sweetheart, forever you will be
My angel, who’ll inhabit eternally beside me.

Especially for you, these verses I weaved profoundly
within my heart
And in my soul, these rhymes in pieces
shall never tear apart
For we promise forever to stay no matter what
‘In sickness and in health, till death do we part.’
