THE PUPIL (homonym)

a poem by Jacinta Ramayah, Malaysia - poetry writer, author, poet

The child bowed his head in timidity
before the wise man with bowed knees,
though gaunt and aged the man was,
the boy trembled, he was aged only three.

The boy had a minute to present his story,
minute though he was he spoke bravely,
he had learned how to write the ABC,
now he wanted to be as learned as He.

He took the boy through slough and wind,
taught him how creatures slough their skins,
of the content in past and present history,
though winded the boy, content was he.
