My Daughter Is Marching Today

a poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen, Denmark

It’s her graduation
Yes, she made it
after three years
of burning midnight candles
Now she walks proudly
with a hat on
She will walk
her way to endless study.
Her graduation today
Is just the beginning of dawn.
