Architect

a poem by Charles Fisher, UK

At the building
Scaffold high naked of builders
Vacant lift cage like a vacant waiting room
Await for the gluttonous construction feast
The face of the building exposed to the wrecker of
The rain
The ice and snow
The hot summer sun
The salty sea spray
Has all caused the origin red sand stone
To lose its splendour like a proud statue
That lost its favour and dominance and place
In the museum of architect builders
