a poem by Olomolehin John, Nigeria

Faded picture
loosely framed by worn wood
of an extinct tree
hangs sadly in my heart
where iron-hope of forever-love had sprung

I remember the colours;
deep and bold against seasons,
radiating a lifetime lastness

To think of my first love is to think of eternity
terminating within a short time.
