BENEATH THE MAGNOLIA TREE

a poem by Nancy Ellen Crossland, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Petals of creamy white saucers
Glossy leaves surround them
Held within your hand
Oh magnolia flower so grand!

Fragrant disks, beauteous flower
Float upon the pond for hours
Dragonflies hover for a spell,
Frogs and grasshoppers rest
Within your well,

Stately, lovely, fragrant is the air
When the magnolia tree is there
What a dramatic statement is made
When its placed upon a plate
With candlelight illuminated
Its splendor is never overrated

Romantic, showy,
Superbly lovely flower
Beneath the magnolia tree
I'd wile away the hours
