TO SEA OR NOT TO SEA

a poem by Jacinta Ramayah, Malaysia - poetry writer, author, poet

The storm above
a lightning-crack

The sea below
churning black

Soapsuds foams
spray the deck

Thunderclouds roll
clap and smack

Sailors topple
fall like a sack

No food nor water
not even a snack

No land ahead
not a speck

Mast is down
hits with a thwack

Rocks ahead
ship’s a wreck

Water rises
above the neck

Are you off to sea
What the heck?

Come back, Zack
Unpack! Unpack!
