ROMANIANS IN MODERN EUROPE

a poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen, Denmark

Children of long-term dictatorship
spread as gypsies
caught as wild herds
whipped
and driven out
from one camp
to the next.

And the modern Europe
deals with them
as wild strangers
in this modern continent.

SQUATTERS (Slum-Dwellers)
Hunger, Poverty and Lopsided Development
Mahatma Gandhi and the Ganges River
