EVERLASTING MEMORIES

a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

EVERLASTING MEMORIES
The sun shines hot
And the sky is blue
And I am all alone
Except for you
I cut the grass
And tend the flowers
And I dream of the memories
That once was ours
The edgings neat
And the grass is green
And its one of the tidiest
Ive ever seen
And your marbled stone
Stands proud and erect
Bearing your name
With love and respect
I kneel before you
And in silent prayer
Wish to God
That you were still here
Maybe you are
But I wish I could see
One of many kind people
Who mattered to me
I miss you mum
And I always will
But when you died
My time stood still
Now the suns going down
And its starting to rain
And I must go home
Buy my heart
Will remain
