Crater of a Volcano in Regions Crying for Freedom

a poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen, Denmark

A volcano opens her mouth
A crater of lava stems
From her insides
Hidden,suppressed
For many decades.

But at its right time
The mouth opens
And empties her bosom
From the fire and flame
It has been hatching.

Now we see the crater,
The mouth of this volcano,
coughing, sneezing, stretching
to Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria,
Yemen, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iran .

No longer can this crater
Be sealed again
In silence, by threats or violence
The fire and flame
Lodged in her insides
Shall be dislodged
Through its crater
That is already opened up.
