Resolutions

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

Every year we make resolutions,
set our goals and aim to be better
Many non-starters, other shortlived
but few we achieve and are happy with.

We wonder what stopped us, where we went wrong?
Was it too difficult or just took too long.
Maybe we were selfish and chose to ignore
or maybe it was gluteny that knocked at our door.
Some of us were lazy and our time was ill spent.
whatever the reasons, our rules were soon bent.

So as a new year approaches, a challenge here stands
Think less of ourselves and our selfish demands
Care for the needy, the poor and the sick
Take time to be friendly and don't take the mick.

Together lets stand for helping each other
and make this a year that we will always remember.

Be my Valentine
Celebration
Rememberance
