The commander

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

Astonished I am with the world in one hand
it collapses and crumbles but still will I stand
The firmest foundations built on knowledge and success
have fallen away, what have i left to impress

Helpless I watch as an innocent bystander
at the suffering and pain caused by the mighty commander
The destruction unbearable and the fear uncontrollable
People run for their lives yet, i stand there untouchable

Immune from the suffering but I dont understand
What makes me different, i am just as bland
Disgusted truth hits me, my blood feels so cold
The commander is me, I detroyed all those souls

Hurt
Times of Struggle
Emotions
