Here I am

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

I see you tearing up the path as you walk
but you dont recognise me

We sit but metres apart so why don't I talk
because I know you dont see me

I know you so well, your smile and your smell
but "who are you?" do you ask, All i can show is my mask,
how will you ever recognise me?

Each day is a struggle to show the real me
Until one day at last, its me you will see
No more will I say I cant lift down my mask
because when that day will come, I know your response

I recognise you!!

Times of Struggle
Lacking focus
