you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink

a poem by William Willis, Scotland

tax payer foots the bill
work shy know the drill
feet up watching telly
expanding waist and belly

you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink

claim cash for doing nowt'
what's it all about
the system's so unfair
too much for me to bear

you must lead this horse to water and help make it drink

no illness there to see
but get prescriptions free
sell valium on the street
to buy their vodka (neat)

you must take a horse to water but no way will it drink

dealing drugs,no time to graft
drinking wine and smoking hash
college learning books for free
all supplied by you and me

you can take a horse to water but can't learn it to drink

now our country's in a mess
we will all be getting less
we are now all in the shit
show your country you are fit

"Sorry mate,i just can't be bothered, you are wasting your ink! "

You Can Lead A Horse To Water But You Can't Make It Drink

A different take on the brilliant title supplied at Richard's Request

Whither The Wind Blows There Falls The Seed
Though Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour Of Splendor In The Grass,Of Glory In The Flower
