a poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen, Denmark

The cold winter snow has melted
Hide the thick boots and jackets
Come out to the open road and dance
Receive the smiling sun with your hands.

The flowers are reborn from their grave
The leaves are crawling, giving life to twigs.
Windows are open to replace the heat
And off we go out to make the first step.
