THE OLD WOMAN WITH THE COLD HEART

a poem by Skye Kerri- Leigh Bagshaw, UK

Dawn, the morning, midday,
She longs for the sun to move
Behind the cream cloud, let her accept the darkness
That shadowed her entire life,
Why live in denial? She looks in the mirror
And see the old woman with the cold heart

A little girl, sat in her seat, nobody around her,
Completely alone and feeling undesirable
As was her school years,
Now she's the old woman with the cold heart

Walking slowly through the park,
She sees flowers that have bloomed,
Flashbacks of a distant valentines day
With her sweetheart, he gave her a gift of a pansy,
Something she wanted to last forever lost it colour
And wilted,
Now she's the old woman with the cold heart

As she's walking the factory become clearer,
Oh, how she detested her days spent there,
It was a world of betrayal and unachieved dreams,
Now she's the old woman with the cold heart

Yes, she had a life of disappointments and sorrow,
Worst is that she has to remember them
Every minute she is awake, nothing occupies her,
She has to live the life of an old woman with a cold heart.
