"Fasten Your Seatbelts It's Going To Be A Bumpy Night”

a poem by Keith Lumbard, UK

Twas a curious sky, the ambience dank,
Brisk was a squall with a whistling pitch,
Awashed with clouds where the galaxy sank,
To a cauldron of spells of the wickedest witch,

A solicitous moon had lost its appeal,
Sinister stirred in the sable of night,
The mightiest trees just couldn't keep still,
Where nature declined to offer respite,

A fulgurant flash examined the sky,
Milieu grew transforming surround,
As diffusion occurred, did cumulus cry,
Torrential fell that trampled the ground,

Then arborized the lighting spewed,
Aggressed its wrath and scorched the earth,
Upon the will of man it strewed,
With all its might, with all it’s worth,

“Woman, man and child there be”,
Was the cry to all humanity,
“Fasten seatbelts, hold on tight,
It’s going to be a bumpy night”,

Humbly submitted in response a very challenging title to my considered, very special friend Marcia Schechinger. Thank you Marcia for the dedication you give to this site and all the aspiring poets you inspire with your time and encouraging reviews.
