There is only one set of footprints.

a poem by Rita Joyce Singh, India

One day my husband put up this wonderful, inspiring poster about
a man who has this dream,
It was titled 'footprints' and it did really seem
every bit my story ... without a doubt

For, failing, falling many times and in utter despair.
I've questioned, "Lord, what do you know and do you truly care ?"
There is only one set of footprints - it's depressingly unfair,
Look ! here they are, and those there, and there and there.

Most every where at the worst times in my life,
When I felt dejected - and wondered at my strife
There is only one set of footprints -- you can see
You just, just didn't walk alongside-leave alone carry me

Doubting Thomas that I am - i don't wait for a response,
Hyperventilating - i keep up this angry stance.
"Sure, there is only one set of footprints ..." I do get His reply,
For the man who put this poster up - is my deputed guy.

Oh, you didn't guess ... precious child -so don't apologize,
He's the finest human I could find - not my avatar or disguise
There is only one set of footprints .. and though i love you too
I was confident this man - would always carry you.
