“Two Hearts Beating As One”

a poem by Richard Gildea, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

(In response to dear Elizabeth's Challenge)

Harmony of rhythm beating deep within a chamber rare
An altruistic notion, of compassion worn upon my sleeve
In empathy reciprocated, pumping through our veins in care
Beloved disposition for the one who’s love I doth perceive

Listless limbs cannot embrace, when fibrillation breaks the link
Contractions creep in uncontrolled chaotic pulses to impart
Conjoined in spirit sees us through, when earthly form is out of sync
No soul could give such meaning to another’s life, right from the start

Distance in abstentia, of longing fondness painted bold
Scenario when you where mine and I was yours, with thoughts so pure
Of days and nights that linger often in my dreams foretold
My aching heart will beat for two, as long as memories endure

Note: Last line renewed from an earlier poem of mine.

"Fasten your Seatbelts, it’s going to be a Bumpy Night"
Book of "Inspirational Title Challenges"
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be"
