BEING CAUGHT

a poem by Jacinta Ramayah, Malaysia - poetry writer, author, poet

Have been at it for a while
a few months or more,
It would take me up high
and drop me down low,
Lost my sense of time,
reason and thought
What shame I bear now
that I’ve been caught.

It was a shock to hear his
voice early one morning
“What are you doing, ma?
Why aren’t you sleeping?”
Tried to block his view but
my fingers were too stiff,
His eyes swiveled to the
screen, swift like a thief.

“I brought the computer
back as good as new,
You wanted your poems
out for others to view,
But now I catch you doing
what you warned me not to do
So I think it’s time I deleted
those video games from you.”
