Guilty M'Lords of Peccadillos

a poem by Rita Joyce Singh, India

M'Lords I admire your perspicacity
As I try poetry in octets and sestets
You discern well my daring audacity
Warping ten syllables, close to sonnets
When great icons here(on VN) so true to the Bard
Follow scansion of the pentameter
Alone, I deviate finding it hard
To trash my spirits in iambic heater
Revered jewels whether Marlowe or Shelley
From their poetic rhythms have ventured far
Clearly, my intents'not pernicious really
I aim not to earn a laureate star
Fourteen lines - all I ask for brevity
Judge me.Picaresque,poseur,pundit ...or witty
