DAY BREAK

a poem by Oredola Olamilekan Ibrahim, Nigeria

Your radiant smile shed the light to my saddened heart

In mercurial style, I bear the blessings you showed my heart

Embracing all your warmth and glories, I doff my hat.

Like the cockerel, trumpeting through the dawn, incessantly

I felt your peripatetic waves spurring gallantly

And flip your feathering bounties opulently.

Of your pacific perky rays and I went wild

In perpetual excitement like the ocean's tide

Flowing in pertinacious motion to grace your counter's bide.

Jagged edge rays through blooming coffee trees

Shinning through my heart like you on those hills

Till all my bodies be immersed in your suffused thrills.

Show me now, when your phenomenal glories roam this part

Planting goodies and desserts to my deserted desert

With your percussion bringing sweet melodies to my heart.
