Hurt sequel.....Freedom

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

Declaration of Freedom

But as I step back, I can see so much more
My saviour who loves me waits patiently at the door
So stricken with hurt I had turned him away
But he never left me; I went astray

With love and compassion he welcomes me back
The numbness has gone, now nothing I lack.
All this time trying to tell me I’m precious to him
Beautiful and chosen, a child of the King.

The past is forgotten, my sins are forgiven
Now is the time for me to start living
So much hurt I have felt and the fear overwhelming
Scared of the future, scared of forgiving

Broken and damaged, an empty vessel of pain
But my Lord and Saviour says ‘Il take the strain’
No longer Il suffer, the hurt locked up inside
I declare my freedom as I walk by his side

Outpouring of Love
Walking with God
The foot of the Cross
