a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

When I wake up in the morning
The first thing on my mind
I am still here
But how I wish
The years
I could rewind
I know that is impossible
But one can dream
They say
So just for now
I had better get up
And face another day
Theres not much action
In my life
But there was when I were young
And it seems to me
They will never return
They are like songs
That have all been sung
But nothing lasts forever
So while I am still around
I had better make the most of it
Before they put me underground
