a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

Its a cold Winters day
And freezing outside
And its the time of the year
I can hardly abide
The only pleasure
Along the way
Is being with my family
On Christmas Day
Santas been
My grandchildren shout
I appear astonished
As though in doubt
Your presents over there NAN
They shout with glee
And so it was
Beneath the Christmas Tree
They helped me unwrap
My Christmas gift
And for a while
I could not shift
A diamond necklace
Was in my view
And all I could hear
Santa sure loves you
