a poem by Rita Joyce Singh, India

Do never fail in companionship
Your worthy armour, malice towards none

And learn something new in every hardship
See beauty in each day, in every one

Be involved in all conflicts of living
Calmly, look to the light unshadowed by grief

Keep your hearts for love and hands for giving
Your elixir of life, though it be brief

Unlike those living dead you will not fear
Fate, that bounty hunter, if she hunted

You, true hero, who wiped or shared a tear
Your heart, dead or alive, is 'most wanted'

For if we cease to do, to feel, to see
We're more dead than alive - not meant to be
