a poem by Phillip Joseph Hussey, UK

Who is the true
Victor of War
Not the Politicians
Who start it all
Nor the Generals
Who plan its path
Neither the soldiers
With raised flag
Crying with joy
A hollow victory
Not the nation
In its conquest
Even not the blood
soaked earth
Death is the true victor
My friend
Also it's cousin
The grave
These swallow
The bodies of men
Their insatiable desire
All men readily feed
