The Indian Silk Sari

a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

Six yards of glistening threads,
Woven with hands for  dreams to tread,
Draped in layers, that gently hold,
Caress of silk through soft folds.

Golden motifs, ethereal seem,
Woven with care, someone's dream
Wrapped around in art's cocoon.
Wrapped deep in soft silken dunes.

Exotic hues with gold embraced
Intricately woven,  delicate grace,
Like tender petals, drapes allure,
Silk rich, sensual, pure

Glimmering, shaded, passionate sheens,
Royal sheers  to  drape a queen,
Exquisite work, beauty preens,
In every sari, an artist seen.

( Sari is a traditional dress worn by Indian women, it is draped around, worn in different styles in different parts of the country. India is one of the leading producers of silk in the world...Indian silk saris are gorgeous with amazing colors from deep peacock blue to parrot green).

I am a woman but have you heard me ROAR?
