Quiet Heart - for Karen (Beyond the rainbow)

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Where do I read?
the poet with a heart revealed
Blakes' experienced, hidden still
silence breaking as it will
rough hands on shoulder
turning green eyes to the sun;
look, you shall go blind
look away, and never know.

Where do I wait?
here and there,
rooms as they seem
words behaving differently
carries of light, strange decay
lyrics dark, brooding as slow dementia,
then a better day:
storing memories with a friend
hearts born to innocence and acquaintance
made as they become.

Silence didn't say
only intimating with its breath
night had fallen
stars existing where suns hold lifted
those moments, miles, bringing me home
adding extra pounds
to a lean heart
where I looked, nothing to find
the quiet stared back.
here once
jabbering, failed to cease,
now stands a soul not alone.
