a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

The years roll by
And it's Christmas
Once more
And we're well
Over sixty
And we've seen
Them before
How times have changed
Since we were young
We had an apple
A orange
And carols were sung
If you were lucky
A present you had
It was hard in them days
For our mum and dad
And when it snowed
We made snowmen
And huge snow balls
And we rode on a sledge
This was our way
We lived on the edge
But through the cold Winter
When day light grew dimmer
We always looked forward
To our Christmas dinner
Those days are gone
And they wont come back
But Christmas this year
Will have more in his sack
