a Strangers' sky

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

A strangers sky
I wait out the black
ego's hell
the endless diatribe
I change the sky
it changes me again
we move into another day
we never pray
for more than question
and for love
we beg you look once more

Dark blue sky
morning butchers the sun
a couple of words survive
meaningless and alive
memories ache like bone
in the Winter cold
I let a little warmth in
add more black
to the blue
swim in the mix

Names play with definition
semantics
love makes claims
on the rest
as it sleeps
they are clouds
knowing nothing of rain
I see your face
keeping a thought in its place
there is something here
we surrender to the pain
knowing love
will carry us
somehow.
