THE WORLD CUP

a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

The world cup is now under way
And Rooney and Becks will both play
Not forgetting the rest
Who are simply the best
England players may have the last say
Brazil stand out unafraid
But our lads have not really played
They will beat them for sure
And there won't be a draw
And like the others
They will be left in the shade
At the beginning we suffered a blow
Wayne Rooney had damaged his toe
But he's now in the clear
And his name they all fear
And like the rest of the players
He will glow
The final will be the last straw
When our lads knock goals in galore
The world will look up
When we win the cup
Cos it's a long time
Since it happened before
