WINTER'S SILVERY GOWN

a poem by Joseph Chukwudiegwu Osita, Nigeria

Beautiful celestial crystals grip the earth by the neck
And all servants of shiver on the skin pore deck.
Awed by solemn silence of the town
And beauty of snow that tremble down
A Tit in elegance flaps its leathery wings
And sings all blessings that winter brings.
Nude trees coated with soft pile of snow
Stand with awe and worship the crystal glow.
The Robins are never left out,
The sweethearts of the very cold sprout
Dressed in orange-red and glittering brown feather
They offer adoration to the cold weather.
No charmer like the winter's silvery gown
That carpets the dull face of every town.
