the boat (Botany rd)

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Somewhere
in the wishing
beyond these castle walls
and moat
I hear the sound
ocean crashing
against the wooden hull
of this here boat

coursing through our times
making history
from pure myth
with sails
true anchor
the pale stars.. of words
pouring forth of smith
adrenaline

Summers
becoming Winter
lines
imaginary and real
love
we hold in promise
the life
we earnestly try to steal

this boat brought
Christmas..
a gift of all the graves
the oceans
brought the boat
her tears found us
all eventually
Irving told us it would float.
