STREET CHILD

a poem by Dale Costello, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Echoes of laughter
streets of sorrow
a love lives today
despite the threats
of callous tomorrow.
Times of change
life can depart
sometimes evolve
minds carry on
with troubled heart.
World weary wisdom
aged seventeen
from the streets of Sydney
back alleys of Adelaide
tips of the unclean.
Echoes of laughter
memories of then
born are the children
to have it taken away
by both women and men.
