Aussie open

a poem by Leif Phillips, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

Lleytons in the 3rd round
Tomics in the fourth
Gail is in the tissue box
his south is feeling north
I love the Aussie open
the summer in the air
love it when the linemans sconed
by a serve yet doesnt care
serving with new balls
smashing at that service box
the young ladies in short skirts
with their lovely golden locks
I love the cricket too
though sometimes its too short
when 20/20s longer than a test
it may leave you feeling somewhat fraught
but now I have to go
Serena is taking to the court
I am the ballboy 3rd from right
cos no ticket have I bought.
