Age is just a number

a poem by Shilpa Kapoor, India

Another year gone, added to the stack
Sure has left me wiser
And although I do keep a track
For me age is just a number

It’s another day on the calendar
To turn and take a flash back
Take another step on the ladder
Add countless memories to my track

For although I might moan and fret
To another year that’s been added
And take it as a looming threat
To everything turning vapid

I’d like to take it as a day to starts not ends
To feel all lucky and special
What better reason to spend with family and friends
And cherish innumerable wishes to revel

I have seen some old who are young still
And some young who were never
It’s all in the mind’s will
It really doesn’t matter however

It’s our thoughts that count
Its memories that are forever
It’s a beautiful reminder to the day I was born
Another young year to treasure :))!
