Age is but a state of mind

a poem by Christine Anne Shaw, UK

When you are gone my darling one
your sun will linger in my heart.
'Though years of grief will cause me pain
we'll never be that far apart.

For I will glady bide my time.
Across the veil and through the mist
I'll hear you whisper, call my name
and feel the warmth of lips I've kissed.

The shadows on our cottage walls
will dance and wrap me in their arms
and you my love for evermore
shall fill my thought with all your charms.

Your age is but a state of mind
for other loves my eyes are blind.
