ASYLUM

a poem by Tracy Marie Windisch-Mason, Canada - poetry writer, author, poet

Asylum
There is no sound
Close my eyes
Alice is screaming
Needles are coming round
Here
Close my eyes
Here
I make no sound
I create,
Dissipate
Sanitized
Nurses rehabilitate my smile
But outside
Crooked is the sidewalk crack
Within pill dementia
Crooked is the way I walk
Outside the air is shining
War inside this world
War without words
In a cage
In a paper case
Alice is screaming
I hear
The fallen white keys
Outside my freedom
My piano
Playing so blatantly.
Asylum
