If only he knew

a poem by Elizabeth Grace Shearer, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

If only I could find the words to say
I care for him more than a friends way
He always makes me laugh and smile
I want to tell him but I think I’l wait a while

When im with him I don’t have to pretend
I am who I am and that I don’t have to defend
As I write this I am longing for him to see
The words on this paper, the way that I feel

Often I wonder if he likes me back
But the confidence to find out is something I lack
Each time I want to tell him, I find myself stuck
The words just don’t come out, totally dumbstruck

The wind changes soon, the time is running out
My feelings will be memories not to worry about
If only I could tell him now how he makes me feel
Maybe then his heart I could steal

Love
Guess what...
