LIZARD (for the youngest)

a poem by Linda Lee, Spain

I'm Larry the lizard
I stand on this stone
There's no-one around
I'm completely alone

I'm well camouflaged
Coloured beige, black and grey
So warm in the sun
It's a baking hot day

I have to keep still
And pretend I'm not here
Especially when
Any insects are near

And then when a big fly
Comes buzzing around
I'll flick out my tongue
And gobble it down!
