BLUE FOR WESTLY

a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

Across the pit yard he strode,
Away from the dark, and the dust,
Following a less dangerous road,
On a journey, where he put all his trust,
High above him a clear sky of blue,
And he thought of the deep blue sea,
Where fishermen,sailors, and passenger crew,
All searched for adventures anew,
Then back to reality he came,
As the sun began to shine,
Knowing very well, the blue sky above,
Was miles away, from a deep coal mine,
