THE MORTALITY OF THE IMMORTALS

a poem by Kyle Patrick Strickenberger, USA

Sweet, sugary decadence
as the House upon Them fell.
Gods gazed to the heavens;
Mount crumbled to hell.

The Divine rang out "√Čleos!"
with voices lacking divinity.
Once standing so grandiose,
remained nothing in It's vicinity.

From the ashen land,
rose a single circle of fire.
Olympus fell to the base,
immortal death had transpired.

The writing was on the wall;
the Lake of Fire extinguished.
Hell had frozen over,
And immortality relinquished.
