a poem by Hema Ravi, India

A year has passed
across seas you crossed
as a young bride you left
to fend for yourself, how you must have felt!
The year has been a roller coaster ride
helped you take things in their stride
Trump card- the values you have imbibed.

Tough decisions have had to be made
as green pastures you bade
after initial hiccups, you have done fine
your partner is along with you to dine.
The wheel of life has led you afar
But in our hearts ever near, Dear!
At the cross roads, you’ll find direction, hang in….

Events leave us with hard choices to make
In the bargain, no relationship permitted to break
towards kith and kin develop tolerance
grit and bear with all forbearance,
find footing in new soil, accept changes in life
rain or shine, with freedom from strife
With patience and faith, move on until you reach the goal!
