How Must I Love You?

a poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen, Denmark

Must I pamper you with presents?
Must I serve you breakfast on bed
and touch your head asking you
if you have slept well in the night?

Must I listen to your jokes and
laugh with you when days are sunny
and cry with you when rains flood us?
Must I correct you for your clumsiness
and adore you for your promptness?

Must I whisper to your ears
each day the oath of love
which binds us and cuddle you
with sms messages and my touch?

How should I love you?
Tell me and I will see if
What I do to you is enough!
