a poem by Edwin Keith Jepson, UK - poetry writer, author, poet

A Christmas tree lights up the square,
And gathered round, are families there,
Carol singers joyfully spread,
Songs of love, and tears are shed,
For the twenty children who were slain,
They look to God,can he explain,
Why happiness, reverts to pain,
Will he light beyond compare,
This dreaded darkness we all share,
Will we see more stars tonight,
A group of twenty, glittering bright,
And then perhaps,
In this troubled Land,
Our faith and compassion,
Will help us understand,
