"On JOHN STARKS. Our Prince of Sonnets.

a poem by ROY Douglas KNEALE, UK

Forsooth! It is astonishing to find
A Sonneteer, whose ‘feathered spear’ hath shone
So brightly as to bring dear WILL to mind,
When such as we his talents gaze upon:
Inspiring is the craft, which he employs
So eloquently, and with wond’rous ease;
His gifts to all are literary joys
That we would pray to share on bended knees!
Moreover, he, with generosity,
Doth doff his cap to those of lesser skill;
Thus adding to his worth humility;
For giving praise he deems no bitter pill!
Long may our VN Prince of Sonnets reign:
His like we may not ever meet again!
